The Every Other Day Diet: The Diet That Lets You Eat All You Want (Half the Time) and Keep the Weight Off

Every other day – Feast Day -- you can eat anything you want and as much as you want.  And on alternate days –Diet Days-- you eat 500 calories—or about 25% of normal caloric intake. You’d think that a dieter would go crazy eating on Feast Days, right?  Not so. Surprisingly, on Feast Days the average dieter eats only 110% of what he’d usually eat.  So over one week, that means he’s taken in about one third less than usual, with no restriction lasting more than a day, and no need to weigh foods or mix and match food groups! Plus, it’s clear from Dr. Varady’s extensive studies with real dieters that there are many unexpected health benefits to alternate day dieting, as it lowers several risk factors for heart disease, such as LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.  Steady weight loss with a sensible maintenance program, delicious recipes, a healthier body and a minimal sense of deprivation.  What diet could be more appealing?
